MOSFETs

A metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET, MOS-FET, or MOS FET) is a field-effect transistor (FET with an insulated gate) where the voltage determines the conductivity of the device. It is used for switching or amplifying signals.

Diac/Triacs

The Diac is a very useful device which can be used to trigger triacs and because of its negative resistance characteristics this allows it to switch “ON” rapidly once a certain applied voltage level is reached.

SCR

SCRs are mainly used in devices where the control of high power, possibly coupled with high voltage, is demanded. Their operation makes them suitable for use in medium- to high-voltage AC power control applications, such as lamp dimming, power regulators and motor control.

IGBT

The IGBT combines, in a single device, a control input with a MOS structure and a bipolar power transistor that acts as an output switch. IGBTs are suitable for high-voltage, high-current applications.
